Walking as Method tours
In this game, we proposed a fantastic and eye-opening voyage into the unseen wonders of the UCSD campus. We deployed walking as a way of thinking by organizing mystery tours that enacted the same space (the university campus) in radically different ways.
Participants were randomly assigned to a tour, which included:
1) a "frisbee golf" tour of campus (i.e campus as a ludic space);
2) a tour of the silenced political sites of campus, like the Kumeyaay and military sites upon which the campus was erected (i.e. campus as contested political artefact);
3) a wheel-chair accesible tour of campus (i.e. campus a disabling and discriminating space);
4) a tour with one of the official tour guides of campus (i.e. campus as a commodity);
5) a tour of the open-air Stuart collection (i.e. campus as an aesthetic space).
